Again, another not so new release but one worthy of recognition. The p-ring have finally got the pop song down. After last year’s somewhat disappointing Very Emergency, the band took two outtakes from those sessions and recorded two new songs and threw them on this ep. The disc’s title track shows what is great about the band nowadays. A bopping melody with a great mix of goofy and sincere lyrics which is just heaven at times. The next song, ‘Strictly Television’, seems to be more on the serious side but still a rocker nonetheless. An acoustic reworking of ‘American Girl’ originally off of the Boy and Girls EP is a throwaway at best and decent if you are in a really good mood. The closing track, “Make Me A Mix Tape” could be the best love song in the last couple years. How can you hate a song where they just sing “duran duran duran duran U2” for outro chorus? You can’t!
